Hwa Rang Do Code of Ethics

The Hwarang warrior corps was given a code of ethics in which to help govern their actions on the battlefield and during times of peace. This code of ethics, called Hwarangdo O-Gae, was composed and given to the Hwarang warriors by the venerable teacher, Won Gwang Bopsa. The modern founder of Hwa Rang Do®, Dr. Joo Bang Lee, created what is called the Hwarangdo Kyo-Hoon, or nine virtues. Together they make up what is called the Hwarangdo Meng-sae, or the arts code of conduct.

This code is what separates us from most all the other Martial Art and martial sport organizations. At the onset of the students training in a Hwa Rang Do® Academy, they learn of the Hwarangdo code of conduct.

4. (Sa) Im Jun Moo Tae – Courage Never Retreat In The Face Of The Enemy.
5. (Oh) Sal Saeng You Taek – Justice Never to Take A Life Without A Cause.
